🌟 Mini Summary

The First Frost is a soft, aching, utterly beautiful story about love, loss, the quiet unraveling of a friendship that once felt like home, rebuilding those bonds, trauma, and finding connection despite the pain. It’s about growing up and growing apart, about things left unsaid, and the ache of trying to hold on when everything’s already changed. It’s about finding peace in the differences and learning to be happy again. This drama lingers, like cold air on your skin and memories you’re not quite ready to let go of. Bring tissues. Maybe a warm cat, too.
💭 My Thoughts
I chose this drama for very different reasons than I usually do. I’ve been through a lot recently, and my heart is still aching, grieving the loss of a friend who’s still alive. KFG (if you haven’t met her, you absolutely need to go check her out!) recommended this to me for its healing value. Of course, I was there for the romance {I’m always there for the romance} but I knew this would be a slow burn. What I truly needed was the emotional healing journey, because dramas are my therapy.

Just a quick content warning: the show explores themes of sexual assault, rape, and murder. It also deals with abandonment, the pain of losing love and family even when those people are still living, harmful rumors, accusations, and the grief of actual loss.
That said, I honestly can’t say anything negative about this drama. The writing is heartfelt, sincere, and genuine. The actors made me feel everything right along with their characters. The trauma was handled with such grace and respect. Every step toward healing felt raw and real. I absolutely loved this drama, and this journey.
💑 Chemistry Report
Rating: 🍷 Slow Burn Sommelier
- Took a while to breathe, but aged like a fine wine.
- Tagline: “I suffered. I yearned. I was rewarded and then emotionally demolished.”

This is the slow burn of all slow burns. But the chemistry? Immediate. Our precious Sang Yan was in love at first sight, and his devotion never wavered. Wen Yi Fan liked him instantly, but it took time for her to open her heart. Still, every moment they shared was packed with swoony tension and subtle magic. They fussed adorably upon reuniting. They carried the weight of heartbreak and the scars of their breakup, each emotion delivered with quiet, aching grace. And while we had to wait until episode 20 for our first kiss… once it happened, they couldn’t stop. And I was so here for that. This couple journeyed through so much, and came out the other side with their hearts interwoven, healed, and deeply in love.
🎵 Soundtrack
I don’t normally notice the OST. It’s just not how my brain works. Though, this soundtrack was phenomenal. Every track was not only beautiful and lovely, it totally enhanced every scene. Not that the actors needed the extra help, but this soundtrack honestly is one that I would like to purchase and listen to on repeat.
📝 Final Verdict

- 💋 Kissed Me on the Soul
- So good it felt personal. Like the drama looked me in the eyes and said, “This one’s for you, babe.”
If you’re carrying heartbreak or trying to heal from your own traumas, this drama is for you. While 32 episodes may sound long, it truly didn’t feel that way, and by the end, I felt lighter. The First Frost touched my soul. It gave me a story where I could not only empathize, but also see myself. It felt like the writers peeked into the pieces of my heart that have been hurting, and with outstretched arms, invited me into their world to rest, reflect, and begin to heal.
